The month of January has been incredibly busy. Here is a recap of what the students have been working so hard to learn and what is coming up in February.
Math:
The students have learned the steps necessary to multiply 3-digits by 2-digits. Any students struggling with their multiplication facts, must learn them as soon as possible. In February, they will learn to divide and then we will move on to geometry.
Reading:
The students are working on their reading comprehension by reading social studies and science passages and answering questions about the reading. They will continue to work on fluency. In February, the students will be working on a literature study in a small group setting.
Writing:
The students are working on organization of their writing. This will continue into February as well as working on sentence variety and sentence fluency.
Science:
In January the students were working with plant and animal cells. They will work on classification of plants and animals in February.
Social Studies:
Students have created a Travel Brochure and Mammal Booklet for Arizona as well as maps of the Points of Interest in our state. They will continue to learn about the state of Arizona in February including the 5 C's and the workings of government.
Valentine's Day Event:
Our Valentine's Day Event will take place on Monday, February 14, at 2:00. A flyer has gone home with all of the students names should the students wish to exchange cards on that day.
Have a great rest of the month and see you in February!
